FROM THE FORMULATION OF THE COMPOUND TO THE FINISHED PRODUCT.
COMET carefully studies each step of the design and production of compounds to offer customers the highest quality products. The production processes are divided respectively into nine processing phases – for rubber compounds – and three phases – for those made of silicone and fluorosilicone – essential for achieving the most flexible and performing solution. Both the production and logistics processes are highly automated and controlled, to offer customers the best level of quality consistency; in this context the entire establishment is air-conditioned.

In the first phase COMET receives the technical specifications and the type of article to be produced by the customer. In the laboratory the Technical Office assesses the compatibility with an existing recipe or defines the specification.
The small ingredients in the recipe are dosed automatically with a carousel that prepares the bags for production.
All the components necessary for the recipe are prepared and mixed in a Banbury, a closed chamber mixing machine where the mixture reaches temperatures above 100 ° C.
The rubber compound undergoes a first cooling and it is processed in the mixer to obtain a homogeneous product.
The leaf produced by the mixer is cut and inserted into a water and air cooler, the so called Batch-Off.
The rubber compound produced is packaged according to the customer’s choices in pre-cut strips, coils, calendered sheets or endless strips.
All the compounds are subjected to different series of control tests (rheometric curve, hardness, density, mechanical characteristics) attested by the “certificate of analysis”.
Comet has two automated warehouses fully air-conditioned. It carries out the storage at controlled temperature (between 18 °C and 25 °C) of raw materials, intermediate products and finished products before proceeding with the shipment.
The packaged pallets are stored at a maximum temperature of 25 °C, ready to be shipped to customers.
VMQ / FVMQ production process
Dosing of the VMQ or FVMQ base with additives and dyes.
Mixing the ingredients in the open mixer and in the conical twin mixer, starting with the passage of the base and following with the integration of the other ingredients.
Unloading and packaging in rolled sheets, flat sheets, rolls or strips. Billet filtration is also available. The packed silicone is wrapped in embossed polythene.
